I have a 2000 Trail Blazer and yesterday i was driving in a glade. then I gassed it and i heard a grinding noise, it was like the sprocket quit turning, so i was stuck at the bottom of a really steep hill for a while then my neighbor pulled me out with his artic cat.
I am trying to figure out what is wrong with it, when you gas it so far it makes the grinding noise and just stops accelerating and starts decellarating, it almost sounds as if the chain is jumping links, but i made sure the chain is tight, I checked the transmission fluid, and it is full, I just don't have a clue on what it could be so could u guys maybe help me out. I'd appreciate it alot.

Check your rear hubs. A friend had a problem that sounds similar to yours. The rear hubs fit over the splined axle. Well the hub is aluminum and stripped. So the axle was spinning inside the hub and making a nasty noise. Didn't realize was it was until someone noticed only one tire slinging mud. May not be your problem, but worth checking.
Ps. What's a glade?
