03 Polaris Sportsman 700 Water Problem
#1
Whenever my sportsman goes through any amount of water I lose high gear and it stalls out almost instantly. Low gear works and will at least move it but it too is weaker. I thought it was a belt problem but in neutral the motor sounds bogged down and even reving it in neutral and them putting it back into high doesn't work there is still no high gear really it just bogs down and dies. Even at open throttle after about 15 mintues it will only go about 5 mph and has no power at all. I had a cracked hose going from the carb to the head and replaced it but that did not fix the problem. Any suggestions.

Welcome to the fourms. My 700 was doing something like that. I put Die-electric grease around the spark plug wires and plugs and now it runs like a champ in water. Heres away to check it, start your 700 and take a water hose and run the water over the plug wires and coil and see if it starts to miss if it does get some Die-electric grease and do what I stated above. You might also have a cracked coil.

Thanks a lot for your tip it seems that the problem occurs whenever I hit the water pretty fast so im not sure if it's the pressure or just by hitting is to fast it is able to get up at the plugs.

i just started it up today and it didn't start right away, yesterday was when I was ridding and had all the problems. Low gear works great but it still will barely move in high. I tried to soak the coil with a garden hose but the problem was there before i even got the hose out.

When you started it today did it sound like it was hitting on both cylinders?

Sounds like you might have a cracked coil. Start it up in the dark and look to see if fire is sparking from the coil area. Have you checked your plugs? Have you checked your carb and air box for water? What about your clutch cover it don't have any water in it does it?
