I'm going to replace the chain on my '01 Xplorer 400 4x4. From reading other topics it sounds like it would be a good idea to change my sprockets too while I'm at it. Three questions:

How hard is it to change the sprockets (I have a service manual but want real life experiences)?

Is there a better brand then Polaris to buy, if so, what?

Where can I buy them?

I'm going to get an o-ring chain. The OEM part # from PolarisOEMparts.com for their chain is 3221111-076 (for reference).

uhh i got sprockets through HOT SEAT PERFORMANCE and a chain, the new chain is nice and the sprokets are holding up

for me its pretty easy to change both sprokets but since i dont have an Xplorer 400 it might be alittle more difficult

 

If you switch to an o-ring chain, make sure your chain lube is still safe to use. A lot of chain lubes can eat the o-rings.

 

Thanks for responding. I have an o-ring chain on now but it needs to be changed. I just want to make sure I put quality sprockets and chain on if I'm going to spend the money. The chain lube I've been using is the Maxima Chain Wax.
