Just wanted to know what it would look like?

Does it "stick out" or can it be more "hidden"?

it all depends, you can either cut a hole into the plastic cover where the winch will go, or just take off the plastic cover. either way both options look similar, but if you want to put in some extra time then cut a hole in the cowl it will look neater and more hidden. my dad and his buddy didnt bother cutting a hole they just took off the plastic piece, but i have seen some sportsmans with the plastics cut. it makes your quad look pretty, but its not about that to me. sorry dont have any pics.

It looks to me from those pictures that the 2005 winch is buried in that box/mounting assembly without much access at all. What can you tell us about the ability to view the cable spool and cleanability within that box?

I think Polaris also sells that front cover with the fairlead opening already cut into it if you are worried about messing it up, or want a nice clean edge.

I do not believe that is the polaris kit. THe polaris kit looks like this.

That front cover pops off and the winch is then clearly visible like on 2004 models (in my Pictures<<<&lt.

The winch box does stick out a little so you are able to see in it to clean it. You are able to access the winch spool **** but its a little tight but not to bad. My friend bought this kit off ebay and I don't think its made by polaris. The winch that he has is a venom or viper can't really remember but don't buy one of those. His broke the first time he used it.

Yeah, the polaris kits are $$ but are excellent quality.
