I have an 800 efi and so far it runs great,and I'm loving it. When I ride I just start the engine up and go. When my nephew got on playing around he put the key in the run position, and the check engine symbol stayed on. It doesn't come on when the engine is running. Is this normal? If something is wrong shouldn't it be displayed when the engine is running? Thanks for any replies in advance, need to know if I have to bring it in while it is still under warranty!!

Did you just turned 50 hrs. on the machine. Polaris installed this indicator just as a reminder that it's time for the 50hr. service. It's the little wrench flashing...right?

 

If it's not the wrench flashing and is indeed the"CHECK ENGINE" indicator, mine stays illuminated when the key is advanced one click, then goes out when started....

its normal....when you turn the key on, but not start, the 'check engine' will be on....when you start the motor, the 'check engine' will go out...

 

also, the dealer or factory programs in a 'wrench' symbol on the machines....it talks about it in your owners manual, most will have setup to come on at 50 hours....you can go in and reset it through the diagnostic mode when it comes on....you can put a time to have it come on again if you want to do certain service at regular intervals or you can just shut it off

 

Thanks for the quick replies Guys!! Yes it's one click of the key, all the indicators come on and only the check engine light stays on (That's what had me worried) Haven't reached the 50 hour mark yet, so I haven't seen the wrench. Thanks again big time! It's a relief to know it is normal.
