I had a suspicion you were going to say something like that.
I keep on preaching to everybody to break their motors in HARD. The more you load it the better. I took my shiny V off of the trailer, warmed it up, and went for about a dozen full throttle 1/8 mile beat runs with it. It does not burn a drop of oil between changes.

You might be able to correct "some" of the problem by switching back to a dino oil and doing some good beat runs with it to load the rings up real good. The Moto man web site says that once the motor has run for a 1/2 an hour or so your done as far as break in goes. I don't know if I agree 100% with that.
I do agree that if the cylinders are glazed your done. It will burn oil forever.

Rings don't seat from spring tension. They load from gas pressure getting in back of them and pressing them against the walls of the cylinder. They will only do this if you go to wide open throttle and give it lots of air.

BTW, how much oil are you adding between changes and what are the hours between changes?

definitely does't seem right.....i have the '05 700 EFI and the oil level never goes down between oil changes....I change my oil often and check it every time before i ride, its always at the full mark...

I have a 05 700efi with over 250 hours on it and over 2400 miles and I change my oil at about 70 to 80 hours and mine doesn't use a drop.

I broke mine in like I borrowed it from my brother. No oil consumption, not one complaint. This is how we break all of them in and have never had a problem that we could trace back to this method. I think Doctorturbo hit the nail on the head. Good luck.

i would say you have a problem there. doesn't sound right to me.

BTW, i have always treated my new ATV during the 'break-in period' VERY gently. i would go-easy on it for at least one tank full.
imho.
