scrambler tire difference?
#1
I'm interested in putting 24's in the rear and 25's up front but now I'm trying to decide if there will be a huge difference in the "quality" of the ride depending on what tire I select. The 3 I'm looking at are mudlites, bearclaws, and the at 489. 2 of them are 6 ply and the 489's are 4 ply. Is the suspension gonna handle that difference for me or will it be a really rough ride with the 6 ply? Thanks.

Cool! The next problem I'm having is figuring out what rim/tire combo will work? The itp C-4,5 and 6 series rims are all 12x7 and I'm wondering if I can run a 10 or 11" tire on a 7" rim?? Also, does anyone know who makes an 11 inch aluminum atv rim of any quality? My goal is to end up with 24's rear and 25's up front with the same sytle rim on both. Thanks

if you want the 4x4 to engage just like it did with the 22 inch tires you should lower the sprocket ratio accordingly
probably something like a 40 tooth rear sprocket
that would also get the lost power back from larger tire diameter

Thanks for the info but from what I understand about that, as long as I keep the stock 1" difference btwn the front and rear tires I should have no problems with the 4x4 operation. I know I will lose some torque but I'm looking at a WB-e2, k&n filter, and a clutch kit to take care of the power loss. Possibly even a 12 tooth frond sprocket if I need it.
The problem I'm looking at now is finding matching rims that I can run 24's in the rear and 25's in the front on. I don't care if the rims are 10, 11 or 12" in height. I'm also not sure if I can run say an 11" wide tire on a 7" wide rim?
Need help, thanks.

the 1 inch diff is not really important as the front doesnt engage unless the rear accelerates faster than the front
so 24 on the back and 24 on the front means that the 4x4 will engage slower than it did before it will take slightly more slipage to engage front

yep type 5 c series 12x7 front 10x8 for the rear.
You can run an 11 inch wide tire on a 7 inch wide tire. however a 25x11 will be taller then a 25x8 I doubt it will cause a problem just pointing it out. Its not rare for a tire to grow in height from being on a narrower rim.
example being 33-12.50 tires on a 15x8 inch rim instead of a 15x10 they sit taller and skinnier.
theres some people on here with 25's that can help you out. white dog has 24's. alpine2 has who knows what the tires they are huge.
