Default compression test with pull start, can it be done?

i recently bought a race ported scrambler 400 with a stock head supposedly still at stock compression. it seems quite hard to pull start compared to my trail ported explorer 400 with 12-1 compression. can i do a accurate compression test with the pull start?

Pull start will work fine. Probably 2-3 good pulls on the rope (with the throttle wide open) will get you an accurate reading.
