Has anyone had 500 HO having a hard time starting?
So far the battery is good, choke is set right, idle is set correct, air filter is new, the throttle cable has been replaced.

Try adjusting the throttle cable. There is an adjustment for the throttle control. If it is too slack, it will not let the bike run.

Could it be that you got a bad batch of gas?? Maybe some water in it? How does she run once you get it going?

Well here's an update from the dealer. He called the mfg rep. The tech told him to check the compression release spring or worn cam lobes. They have had some machines with these for some of the hard starting.

Since the carb is clean, vents lines are fine, filters are clean or new, gas is good and the battery is fine.
Plus the machine does start by pull rope easier than by electric starter.

Sorry that I haven't responded to the corrected solution on the hard starting problem.

The probelm was the compression spring was broken and replaced. Now the machine is like new again. The carb bowl did have crude in it. So, with a standard tune up and carb cleaning I'am back in business. Thanks for all of you who responded.
