long travel to short travel suspension.(lowering Scrambler)
#1
I have a question my 2002 scrambler 400 is the long travel model. Presntly I have a set of progressive suspension front springs and adjusters and the stock sachs shocks. I would like to lower my scrambler some and I see by removing the front adjusters that came with the progressive suspension springs that I can drop the front 1.5 inches. I have been told and from what I can tell the spring adjusters do nothing on them.
I was also thinking I should pick up a set of Fox struts in the 6.7 inch travel model to match(good price). That way I won;t have to rig up any kind of limiting strap( when I remove the adjusters and the supension is at full droop) and since the fox shocks are better then the stock poop I will make more effective use of that travel to disipate shock travel. does this make sence? I have a chance to get some foxes for like 50.00 but I may need to rebuild them they are off a magnum.
just fishing for some opinions but I would like to pick these shocks up today to try it over the weekend prior to rebuilding but its a no refund scenario so I figured I would ask.

I've been wondering...what is it in the suspension that changes it from the short travel to the longer travel? Also, I assume the Fox struts were added to the Magnum. They never came equipped with Fox struts, did they?

no they didn;t come equiped with them from the factory. The scrambler long travel suspension is 8.2 inches of travel via longer struts and 14.1 inch springs verses I beleive 11.6 but I'm not positive.
with the above idea I would loose travel but I would be soaking the bumps up more effectively and I want my front end lower anyway so either long or short travel struts I would still only get 6.7 inches.
