Helping a freind look for a cheap 4 wheel drive, We found a 91 350cc two stoke. The shift lever from N-R-H it some times grinds and is hard to get inti high gear, Any Help would be great, This guy wants $1500.oo. It looks good for a 91, but know nothing about the auto trans on polaris. Would new clutch disk help????? Or shoud we pass and keep looking

Condition dictates a lot . A very mint model like that would be worth maybe $1800 , condition dictates value . If the motor screws up bad you could drop another $1000 with out much trouble . And don't forget about all the chains , bearings , bushings , and brakes . The words *cheap * and *relaible 4 -wheeler* don't really go together well .

Well the grinding is not really a big deal if the clutch is still engauged a little bit they will grind this could be caused by a number of things; make sure you let the motor return fully to idle before shifting if not it will grind; the clutches could be a little out of alinement due to wear of the motor or trans mounts that can be adjusted. might need a new belt and the clutches cleaned; all are minor if you can do it yourself.
If the grinding problem is because the quad is idleing to fast or takes to long to return to idle I would stay away as this may be a sign of a air leak in the motor which = major failure if not fixed very soon this can be $$$$ if you cant do it yourself as it means resealing the motor.
Rick Ritter said it cheap and relaible are hard to find I think a four stroke might be safer on the older quads more $$$$ to fix if it blows. but less likely that it will have a problem...imo
