I had the Rath Racing intake, and did not like it. Don't get me wrong Rath makes some great parts for the Pred, but the twin air is where it's at. Trust me on this one, the twin air is ther only way to go. I agree with Brad, they are nothing wrong with the stock carb, just have the carb mods done. I was only beat by one yfz, and spanked every 450R I raced.

question, were i run around, i go through some water, i need an airfilter that can hover over, or bend down into the airbox so it can me moderately safe from water, i know an outerwears would help alot in that situation. does someone have a link that i could see?

i plan on getting the rath in S/S cuz i like how stainless changes colors under heat.

as far as the carb mods or new carb, this is probebly going to be the one of the last htings to do on my list, i'll look into nicks mods more, but i just have a weird feeling of sending off the heart of my quad to get drilled :/

All I can say is that 3 of the most respectable predator owners on this site just told you it is a must have mod.......and you are still leary about it. I guess you'll learn the hard way.....or be really suprised some day in the future......

Also......on the rath header......this is just my opinion, and you do what you want cuz it isn't that big of a deal, but ceramic coated will make it run cooler.......

Wow guys- talk about a bunch of info-

thought I would pop in here to explain the two choices in the new header- there is such a small difference in the dyno charts and test runs between the cremaic coated and the stainless. (a slight advantage with the stainless)
When we first introduced the header it was only available in stainless- we had many requests for ceramic coating ( based mostly on looks and personal preference) so when we tweeked the old design a little bit we decided to offer both versions-
Putting the flywheel mod rumor to rest- in three years I have honestly not had ONE complaint from anyone who has ACTUALLY done the mod and installed it- there has been a lot of comments from people who have "heard or just know" there is issues with it.
A little known fct is comparing a Pred flywheel to a TRX or YFZ the Pred flywheel is almost5 1/2 pounds heavier...so by lightening it one pound there is plenty of mass left not to screwup torque-idle or anything like that..this mod does only one thing it lightens the mass you need to get spinning faster to allow you to accelerate faster period-

Just popped in here with my thoughts but what do I know I am only "the wife"

Yeah..there are still guys who think they will get better info if they talk to Daryl direct!

Oh well ..I have a hard enough time getting him to stand still long enough for me to talk to him- lol!!

Please no worries about anything- you just stated what you had heard-you tried to help the guy out by giving him an answer! I didn't mean to dog you when I answered, I just wanted to put that out there as an example between actually having it done and hear say!

These carb mods sound great......just keep in mind i don't race or anything like that....I installed the hmf full exhaust....k&n drop in...upped the pilot and main jets...and raised the needle one notch......works great compared to stock.....and still get to keep my airbox in tact.....i want response and more torque....could care less about top speed........For a person who doesn't have tons of money to dump into their quad...the stuff i did to my bike was minimal in cost(other than the exhaust).and the results were very impressive..

I only wish you would have been on here sooner.......I had the drop in k&n......and got rid of it for a clamp on twin air filter. The stock airbox is junk by the way......it leaks in more ways that I can say.

The carb mods are great......I'd suggest that as your next move, and then possibly the filter and outerware.....

You'll get much more response, and what will seem like more torque too(which will be kinda, when he opens the carb up some, and if you get a new filter).......

If you want even more torque after these mods, a simple gearing change(similar to that of RAJ's) would be pretty nice too.

this Lectron 44mm carb you guys are talking about, for drag raceing... can you guys give me more info, im the type of person that prefers torque over horsepower, though horsepower is always great

if this happens to be the carb mods, then i suppose i'll send it off when i have some money to. how much does it cost?
