Default quick oil chnge question

I just did an oil change on my 04 ATP 330. I followed the instructions in my manual. It says, after you re-install the the drain plug and filter. Put in 2 quarts of oil.

Here is the problem, after running it for a minute to move the oil around, I now have 1.5 inchs of oil above the full line it is almost to the threads. . I got about 2 quarts out. The book calls for a little over 2 quarts. I put 2 back in, SO WHY IS THERE TO MUCH? SHOULD I DRAIN SOME OUT?

Me and my wife are lgoing riding in the first snow in about an hour, and I dont need a break down today........

If you used Polaris oil, it expands when warm the manual should state something about checking it warm, at least mine does. You have to remember to that the hoses still have some oil in them along with the pump. After the first one or two oil changes you'll get the hang of it. Sounds like you have to much in I would remove some just to be safe.

Have a good ride

I would put in what the manual says. If you got 2 quarts of old/used oil out....i would put 2 quarts back in.

Default quick oil chnge question

where was the full level on the stick before you changed it? may seem like a stupid question but the oil level issue is common it seems, even for machines with different motors. I went through this with my 04.5 SP600. it says to put 2 quarts in on the dipstick itself, but I have never been able to get it to read properly unless it was 8 oz. shy of 2 quarts. I run slightly less than 2 quarts and the level is always well above the full line even when I follow the ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS oil checking procedure from the owners manual. and yes, 2 quarts come out at oil changes. considering both the manual and the dipstick say 2 quarts I would go with that amount. it is quite frustrating however that the dipstick never reads correctly. WTF POLARIS?!
