Default Need opions on trading a banshee for a trail boss.

Hey all, I do mainly trail riding.. and when I ride with friends that have utilitys. and most the time on the trails I never leave 2nd or 3rd

I have a 97 Banshee, bored .80 over, boost bottle, cool head, bigger carbs, K&N,s.. basicly everything cept for bottom end work.

well been having a problem with fowling plugs (thinking low compression on left cly) and kinda wanting to just get rid of it... well I want a UTE for mudd and hill climbing.

My friend wants to trade me a 2003 Trail Boss 330 and 100$ for it, Im seriously thinking on it.. I just know its gonna be absolutly SLOW compared to my banshee and my banshee will probly get through every bit of what this trailboss will... but I noticed when I was riding in what kinda trails I ride in the MOST I never left 2nd or 3rd MAINLY 2nd gear..

so im thinking maybe slower will be better cause I go slow on the trails anyways?

Maybe a good winch and this UTE ill be good to go on the trails?

I wanna ride mud, push down trees, climb through ditches and steep hills??? and would LOVE to have reverse...

Should I trade or try and sell the shee (only looking at getting like 1800$ for it) and then buy a bigger UTE or get this 1...

Lemme get some opions...

For what you are wanting you may want to look at a 4x4.The TRailboss is a good trail machine but it will need clutch work to climb steep hills or even run at a decent speed. Our TB is a great machine for what it is as long as you realize it is just a putter and hauler. It does as good as any 2x4 in mud.

Borrow the Boss for a day. Take it by a dealer and see what kind of trade they'll give you. If you were only going to get 1800 for the Banshee, I'd say anything they give you over 2000 is a bonus. (if they give you that much) I like my Boss and probably will bore it and run it till it completely dies before I get rid of it. But after riding your Banshee, you'd be disappointed in its perfomance, and just want something different anyway. As far as Polaris models go, I'd say you'd be happy with a Scrambler too.

well I mean 1800 if I sold it privatly is all im looking to get, it as alot of work done, just doesnt look good lol..

I dono latly been ridng FAST and on a quad no offence.. its just so much more dangerious then my dirtbike lol, speed wise and turning and all that so I might just do it to rip apart on the trails :-D

I cant put the banshee through the abuse I want to.. and really cant force myself to do that either lol. I just dont have the cash for a new bike right now and not getting into payments, ad feel ill have a hard time selling my shee... cause thre is other good deals in the paper for sale that have been thhere awhile around the same price and still there..

I know its gonna be dog slow but as ive said I only do 2nd gear mainly in trails anyways.. and when it comes time to turn around I have to get off and pull while everybody waits for me to gt out the way (TIGHT technical trails somtimes) but If I do trade im gonna miss firey roads

and yeah the scrambler sounds great just dont have the income for 1 right now.

Sounds like you've thought it out pretty good. If you get the Boss, you may want to call Rick Ritter at Ritter Cycle (618) 644-3211 and talk to him about a stage 1 kit. It's only 325 shipped and will give a little extra boost in power. Also might want to change the primary spring to an EPI pink spring. Check out my pics, you can see the Boss goes through some nasty stuff. Well the last three are after it rolled, but still had minimal damage even then.
Good luck!

used sport quads are EXTREMELY hard to sell just because everybody expects them to be abused. And all the work you put into it means nothing to a buyer.

On the other hand utility quads are alot easier to sell used so I strongly suggest making the trade. Then if you find you truely can't stand the boss you can sell it alot easier down the road.

Just my .02 worth.

Did the trade and couldnt be more happy with it...

I already got it stuck tho good thing my buddy was there with his big bear 400 lol.. (I pulled him out too!)

me and him raced and I kept up by 1 bike legth :-D

Its not as slow as people make out like it is IMO... slow yes but I was thinking DOG slow, has plenty enough get up and go for me concidering it is a UTE

had so much fun on it today... Electric start was great, reverse was greater lol... and I actualy rode the whole day without somthing breaking like the banshee.... Tips for anybody IMO... DONT BUY A USED 2 STROKE UNLESS you know its been VERY well Maintained otherwise your buying somone elses problems.

Thanks for the opions

Glad to hear to you got it and had a good time. Good thing you had to pull him out too, he'd probably never let you hear the end of it. Enjoy the ride!
