Ripped a hole in one of the CV boots in the rear of my SP 500. Dealer has charged me 120 bucks for parts and labour. New boot cost is $9.00, and a couple of clamps, somebody figure what these Polaris mechanisms are charging. Had planned to do it myself, but was away on business and came home to find it all done. There will be some words with the dealer as he was instructed to email me the boot prognosis. Word to the newbies, don't trust anyone who owns the dealership, or anyone for that matter, especially other ATV owners who bash not only yours but theirs too.

That does it. I'm getting myself some clamp pliers and will do it myself if I ever tear one! I figgered the labor would be high, but sheesh!

55 labor and parts at my dealer, it should not take more than an hour. you should ask them how come every one else has it done in 1 hour or less. and then inform him that your atv dollars will be spent elsewhere.

I don't know the laws in your state, but I would think if you didn't authorize the work, you don't have to pay for it.

Bruce,

1>Unbolt the ball joint and tie rod end
2>Unclamp boot
3>pull the strut out toward you
4>Remove old boot and slide new boot onto axel
5>Reinsert axel into race
6>Bolt ball joint and tie rod end
7>clamp new boot

Of course all this is a little easier if you jack up the wheeler and remove the tire. LOL

Swac1,
I am not trying to bring you down; however, I can replace a rear boot in less than 30 minutes. It is a very simple job.
