Default 04.5 500 HO needle adjustment question

Hello, in the winter do i move the needle valve clip up to make it richer or down to make it richer? If i remember correctly it is moved down to bring the needle up higher to allow more gas. Is this the correct way? Thanks in advance for the help.

I too haven't adjusted the carb on my SP500for winter,
Mine seems to run ok with the stock needle settings, idles a little low i guess, but it's not really to cold yet, 18 above this morning. What symptoms should i be looking for? how many positions should i change?
If someone has written a proccedure for changeing the clip location could you lead me to it.
Thanks

You should do a plug check to see how its running and then you could see if you need to rejet. Most of the sportsman's come jetted a little rich.

Thanks, I'll check it after runneing in the cold awhile. If the idle is the only thing going on i can adjust that easy enough i'm sure.
So do they typically need to be leaned or richened in the cold?

Is your front winch mount from Polaris or the winch manufacturer. Looks strong and appears to mount the fairlead right on it.
