hey guys, i'm thinking about getting a new bike. My dad has a polaris 400 explorer, i have an arctic cat 250 and a yamaha 125 dirtbike. i'm a experienced rider and i ride almost everyday. which bike is best for me? the polaris preditior or the handa 400ex? im about 5'10' and 135 lbs. oh, i do mostly open field and cane field riding.

the predator is a better deal than hte 400 because it has Douglas Rims, Fox Podium X shocks, Maxxis Razr tires, and the LE's come with a White Brothers exhuast. also, the predator is considerably faster than the 400EX.
but it your looking for a very low maintance bike that you can roll off a mountain and it'll still run, id go for the 400. but i think the pred is in a whole different leauge than the 400

I agree with spyder6 it depends on what you are looking for, but the predator and a 400ex are in different leagues entirely. I would personally go for the predator but definitely a model that has reverse on it not some of the first ones.

what makes the 400 more durable than the predator? a air cooled bullet proof honda motor, thats what.
first things first though, its predAtor, not predItor. now that you know how to spell it correctly, we can get on with the lesson.
whats the preditors top speed? mid 70's, 80 if your lucky
does it have alot of acceleration? it depends on what transmition you get, but the predator has the best top end ive ever felt before, especially after you jet it and put a good high flow filter on. the power band this thing has is amazing.
how does it handle? it handles fantastic. its wide, and has Fox shocks right out of the factory. you can carve it, pull holeshots, and break the rear loose whenever you want to
how does it wheelie? quads these days arnt built to wheelie, but it can aswell as any other quad, especially with the close ratio transmition (TLD) you just have to know were its balance point is just like any other quad and it'll take care of you. power wheelies are a breeze. forget about dropping the clutch to pull the front up.
is it faster than a kfx/z 400? Yes. 450R? About equal. 250R? No idea. 660 raptor? TLD's can win by a nose

Spyder6's assessment of the Predator is spot-on. I looked long and hard at the Polaris before I bought my Raptor. If the Predator had reverse at the time, I may not own the Raptor now.
The Predator comes stock with some pretty sick components. I do not know the reliability of the Polaris but, Honda is 2nd to none in reliability. You can't go wrong with either one. IF you can, ride them both. If not, sit on them and see which is more comfortable.
Good luck.
