500 EFI Fuel Mileage?
#11
I get about 20-22 mpg on mine with normal high range trail riding. Thats something over 80 miles per tank. I have 700 miles on it so it is broke in. Had the "HOT signal problem fixed. Never did get hot. It has stalled a couple of times when coming to a quick stop, such as grabbing the brakes. Not sure what causes that .Will talk to dealer sometime about that. I am surprised you complain about your 700 efi fuel economy. I put 5000 miles on one and was really impressed with the fuel economy ie. similar to the 500....

It sucks that Polaris's best atv (sp 500) they had and almost legendary went to **** with the 06 efi model. I think they should recall all of them and fix the efi.

i think Polaris lost the boat when the quality took a nose dive and gas tank capacitys shrunk to nothing........................................and they put ON 40lbs since 2002!(699 vs 740)

I have only about 350 miles on my wife's 700 and about 400 on my 800 so they are probably not broken in yet. I know it (the 700) is taking about the same amount of fuel my 800 takes when we ride together on the same trails.
Why did you get rid of the 700 and go with the 500? Is it actually your experience that the 700EFI uses the same amount of fuel the 500EFI does?
I have test ridden the 500EFI and like it a lot, but it is nowhere near the puller the 700 is. Dont get me wrong, I really like the 500EFI but after reading all the negatives here on this forum and the atv frontier forum I am a little gun shy. I like the EFI feature so I may just get another 700 twin.
If some of you 700 guys (Hey elkbow!!!!) can honestly tell me the 700, after it is broken in, is a little better on fuel than the 800 I may just go with it due to the problems with the 500EFI. After all , they are approx. the same machine anyway except for the engine; thanks for any info any of you may give me.....

WOW! that is a HUGE fuel tank. i didn't know they were THAT big! that's terrific! i wish there was an AC dealer near me. i'd like to take a closer look. the reviews i've read of ALL the Cats are excellent. seems like a good ATV Mfg that seems to have their act together.

Mtpockets, you got me wondering so I just went and looked, the gauge stills says fulland an eye in the tank still shows full as well. I'll be giving it a workout this weekend again to see how it lasts.
I've had a couple of near stalls myself, but it hasn't stalled completely yet. So far I'm satisfied with the machine.

i've owned many EFI Polaris's since they came out in '04 and none had issues.
i left my '05 700EFI outside ALL Winter last year and in the dead of New England Winter cold that ATV would start right up and never skip a beat. smoothest ATV i EVER owned. we 500EFI owners should not have to settle for anything less. "near stalls" is a DEFECT. stalling is a DEFECT. overheating is a DEFECT. clutches and engines out of alignment causing hard shifting on a brand new ATV is a DEFECT.
and Polaris should have TESTED at least ONE production model and they would have realized that they were sending JUNK out into the marketplace.
out for now (my stomach is burning)

SAC 2 reasons less weight and pull starter.. I had 2 twins a 600 and 700 efi and put about 10000 miles combined on the 2 of them. Never hada problem with the starter failing, however I ride about 3000 miles per year and almost always alone so I feel more secure with the auxillary starter feature. I can go all the same places on a 500 as I did on the twins just not quite as fast. Maybe its oldage as I turned 70 this yearand maybe a little more cautious!!!

It is the same frame and features of the the 500 and 650 arctic cats but it has the Suzuki KingQuad 700 Efi engine in it so its already been tested for two years with all the updates. The QUAD magazine has a review of it in this months magazine with positive results.

I've got an 03 700 carb. will get 20 mpg or better when ridin "normal" I dont baby it at all, ride pretty hard , have ridden 85 miles and not used reserve. I hear you can buy a pull start for the MV and put it on the 700, not sure about the EFI models, break thm in good, 500 miles and see if they get any better, Ive got 22oo on one and over 4000 on the other, very few problems love them both.
