inch pounds for spindles?
#1
Thanks to everyone who helped me to diagnose my front drive problems. It was a combination of things, which makes it pretty hard to find solutions. Wires to the magnetswere broken, and the Electronis Throttle Control switch turned out to be stuck in the "off" position. While I searched for the culprit, I found a few housekeeping items to complete, replacing seals, mostly. Now, my question. The manual demands that I replace the staked spindle nuts with flex-locks, or ny-locks, or whatever. It goes on to provide me with an extensive series of torquing steps, all based on inch pounds. Now, I have never had the need for an inch pound torque wrench, and probably never will again, unless I take the hubs apart again. I also don't have such a large socket, and again probably don't need it. Before you suggest rental, it won't happen, not here in the bushes of SW Alaska. So, does anyone have a method of torquing these using simpler methods/common tools, such as "tighten to lock" and back off so many turns? I appreciate any help.
