The best way I found to put them in gear is make sure the motor is at idle and then shift them fast into gear.

Funny thing is , when theyre not running (engine off) they shift really nice. Atleast thats how mine are.

Your Predator has a regular foot shifter doesnt it? I think he was talking about the hand shift lever.

the cvt shifters on the Polaris machines are inherently stiff, but have a good positive feel imo, when it's in it's in. personally I have no problems shifting mine, it is very sensitive to engine rpm's and drive force on the clutch, but I happen to like the action. make sure your idle rpms are correct and not too high and you will get use to the shifter.

peace

I agree about the positve feel , its just getting there that sucks.
As far as the idle goes, i think mine idles at about 1150/1200rpms.Does that sound right? It doesnt seem to be too high.
Like i said before , when the motor is off it shifts real easy and smooth.Ive read in other threads that some will creep in low gear. Mine doesnt do that but when i turn off the ignition while in gear,it does seem to relax.Like the clutch is engaged a bit.

your idle is a bit high and thats why you get a bit of grinding sound when you engage them, if you have ever had one apart (which i have ) you will see that the way they engage is a bit on the aggressive side but one thing is sure is that they generally stay in gear unless the catch is worn in which it will come out easy, you dont ever want to be headed up a dune at high revs and this come disengaged, (i have ) you will almost end up over the bars. best way like others have said is to engage it fast while the engine is idling. good luck and dont worry the transmissions are not cheap and chensy. they are made quit well.

What should the idle be?
