Are the UFO,S really worth the money and do they work like they claim 3/4 to 1 horse per 100cc of engine size.

A lot of the newer carbs have developed the design. I read up on the UFO and was gonna get one for the 400ex I had, but the carb. was already designed in a manner that does the same thing as the UFO. Would the manufacturers adopt this design if there was nothing to gain? UFO manufacturers HP claims per 100cc does'nt seem very realistic though.

if you pull your slide out off your carb you will notice that there is a restriction around the bottom of the slide as you know turburlance reduces air flow so what the ufo does is reduce turburlance by filling in the middle of the slide

My experience, on my scrambler 400, is that they are a major pain to get tuned in. Once tuned in they give a minor improvement to throttle response, nothing like going to a 38mm TMX. As a side benefit it also gave me a mid-range burndown.

So to sum up, in my opinion they are not worth the money or the time it takes to dial them in.

Just my 2 cents,

Scramblin
