Electrical problem

My bike would shut down,no sputter, stutter or nothing, just shut's down like you turnd the key off,no key chain and the key isent hitting anything.
Lights go then within a spit sec it's off.
Starts right back up with no problem.
Happened 8-9 times yesterday.
Not sure if the hand warmers and 3 light headlight mod has anything to do with it(never had a problem before with that)??
Voltmeter shows everything is fine when there all on
This is on the 800

Check to battery and starter relay termanals see if they are loose, and check the kill swicth on the left handle bar for shorts, may have to take it apart and clean it? just some ideas to check. Of course check the key switch as well.

I was riding 1 day and a limb caught my cable and I went wide open into a tree, and stood me up on its end lol, if I had thought fast enough and let off the thottle it would have shut it down. Maybe that should go on "the things not to do" post.

I’m guessing you have a dead short somewhere. Had a weird problem on my 700 last summer, every time I grabbed the hand brake lever all electrical functions would die and (of course, with EFI) the motor would kill. Let go of the hand brake and the electrical would come back on and I’d have to restart the motor. There was a dead short in the wire going to my right brake light. Every time that wire was powered up it would trip one of those little black breakers under the front box. When I’d let go of the brake lever the breaker would reset itself and electrical functions would come back on.
I never did track down the faulty/damaged wire, just ran a new one from brake light switch to the right rear light. Fixed. You’re going to have to do some “process of elimination” diagnosis to isolate this problem in order to find it and fix it. I'd start with cheking the kill switch wiring and ignition switch wiring.

Hey 500DUSE,
Check your Ignition switch and your kill switch. I had my Ignition switch go bad on mine. Had to buy a new one from Polaris ($$$).

went for a ride fri night (15 miles)and it died once.
Just got back from a 30 mile run and all was fine.
Seems to do it if I run with the heated grips and the 3 headlight mod on for a few miles..
I put tthe voltmeter on, with it all on and it was reading 13.85(somewhere around there)
