Is there a way to change the rope in the recoil starter on a 97 Scrambler? I can not get the rope removed from the handle. Is there some special trick for changing the rope, or do I have to get a new handle? I wouldn't worry about having a new rope, but it will be my only way to start the ATV since my starter is gone!

 

so you want to that the rubber handle off of the recoil rope?? i think there is a little cap on top u pop off with a small flat head screwdriver then pull the rope through it maybe? ill go out and look at mine and post back later.

 

pop the little cap off the top. then take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the rope out the top of the handle. dont even try to untie the knot just cut it.
