Default new rider, suspension too tight?

I bought an 06' LE for myself and an 06"TLD for my brother, well today we rode together for the first time on a pretty bumpy 2mile trail, well my quad really me beat up from the rough ride! I switched quads for a couple of laps and the suspension was no comparison, his was so much easier to ride- I could fly over all the bumps and didnt feel a thing! I know the TLD and the LE have the same suspension and I counted the rings and they seem very close on the front shocks. What could be the problem? Rode a friends 700r and same thing-could fly over the rough trail! What wrong the my LE is the suspension too tight? Any tips or suggestions would be very helpful thanks. Also just orded the Hot Seat Proformance Intake, how hard is it to rejet the carb? Thanks guys
