sportsmen vs brute force whats quicker?
#1
I was wondering what is faster, a stock brute force 650 or a stock sportsmen 700 carb. There is a guy who said he will kill me on his brute. I only rode with him with my Cr250 and smoked him. I am sure the brute is faster but in the woods is the difference that big? I am going riding next week with him and just want to know how mutch sh@$ I can talk to get him going. This is only for fun and I am not trying to pick on other machines just this guy

i usually don't answer these but you are asking 2 questions? the first is a drag race, and i no idea, the second is about woods riding. in woods riding i firmly believe the bike is only 10% of the formula rider is the other 90%. i know a kid on a 250 cc recon, that blows away brute forces in the woods. but the kid is an amazing rider. thats pretty much all it comes down to, nerves and skill

Brute is gonna beat ya with no problem.
What you got to do is get him in the mud pit or water crossing
I ride with a couple BF's and they get me on the runs.
The mud is mine
and they wont even follow me in the water.

I agree, the BF has the same motor(V-twin) i believe as i have in my AC 650V2 and i blow my buddies SP700 away on a drag, but my machine is to big to keep up with him on tight trails in the woods

Your right the rider makes a big difference. I also know the brute is quick off the line but throw rocks roots ruts and every thing else in the mix and the irs has to play a factor ovet the swingarm. I think I can handle ruogher stuff faster with th sportsmen then the brute can. Where we ride it is not straifgt or flat

Thats true, the sp has a caddy ride. But my buddy thinks my 650V2 articulates better over rough terrain due to true independent front and rear suspension. But at the same time i think his is more comfortable, probably due to the waterbed for a seat!

The 800 barely gets beet. Its not real bad, But it does get out in front of me. Give me a 1/2 mile streach and I'll pull him back in. Very slowly. My top speed is like 3 mph more. That 3mph does absolutely nothing from 20mph to about 45-50mph when he goes by me. I ride with one every weekend.
