Well let me start off by saying that Jen Rath is right, when she said i have a black cloud that follows me.Here I am again with another broken predator part.I'm missing 3rd gear in my tranny.Do know how it happend but it is gone now. I was riding aroung the wood on a trail ride when it happend.I was riding in 4th and when I down shifted to 3rd it was gone,Just another neutral now.This doesn't bother me to much because the pred had to get the motor pulled anyway because of a Small leak in the bottom end.Also, I'm hopefull that I'll be covered on this by warranty.

Has anyone had this happen to a 04 before?I know the 03's went bad,but never heard of a 04.

I thought of only one good thing that has happend to me> because the predator went down, I took the old scrammy 400 out for a spin,and she was awesome. It was the fastest quad out yesterday.Wicked fast,I guess my testing with a 800 twin clutch is good.

 

Hey Matt, nice to see ya back on here....although, not like this. I haven't heard a whole lot about this, but I did read on predowners the other day, that a few guys were loosing 3rd on update kits(which would be actual 03 pred, with 04 trannies)......I don't know if this would apply to your situation or not. If so, I'd suggest going to an 05/06 3rd gear, because it sounds like the 04's are junk. So.....how is the pred running now-a-days?? Did you finally get it dialed in, and get the power you expected out of it??


There is another guy on here(can't think of his call name).....who has had way way worse luck than you, trust me. He's been into the internal motor/tranny about 3-4 times now.....but I think all covered by warranty.....but has had his pred like a year, and had it out of the shop for about a month

r u sure its GONE? my trials bike skips around gears sometimes. i can go from 3rd to neutral then 4th or i can do that same thing in other gears



just a thought, maybe it is there ur tranny is just crappy like mine?

 

The gear is gone for sure.Brad,I did get it close to what I wanted but I still need more.I will try some other motor mods this time.Maybe 600?????
I was told today by my dealer that my warranty is the best and it shouldn't be a problem to get it passed them.

 

Hey Fixitmatt, My o3 predator did the same thing after i dragged raced the **** out of it, So I had the shift improvement kit in stalled and never had another problem with it. Also put the 558 kit , lighten flywheel , vortex cdi , hpd valve springs , hpd race pipe. Like night and day.
