26" Tires on a Scrambler??
#1
I've got a 2003 Scrambler 500 with dinky stock tires. I've already replaced the rears with ITP mudlites (stock size- too many burnouts) and i found pics of a scrambler with 26x9x12 on the front and 25x12x12 on the rear and im kinda interested if anyone has tried this and to what result. my bike is piped clutched and jetted so i don't hink i'll lose too much power but i want ground clearence for mud and snow. also i think i can put 27" on the front and 26" on the rear but i kinda wanna hear some input from someone thats tried it before i drop a paycheck on tires and rims. Thanx in advance ScrammyTodd

Going that big will kill power on the scrammy and you cant regear it unless its 2wd. You would be safe with 1-2 sizes bigger but even 2 sizes you will feel the power loss. If you happen to go with bigger tires then 1-2 sizes you will need a clutch kit to save the belt.

It is 4x4, I've got Aaen agressive clutch kit, and pipe and a dynojet jet kit. I saw the pics on that link and that is sick. I think i wanna find a wrecked 6x6 and grab the tranny, i never thought bout that. but i guess i'll see how it is without first

Actually the transmission you want to use to do a Scrammy with high and low range would have to come out of a POLARIS EXPLORER. The Sportsman trannys have shaft drive to the rear wheels where an Explorer is chain drivin to the rear wheels. I have been lookin for one of these tranny's myself. Expect to spend around $400- $500 for one.
