i would like to lift the front of my bike because it squats, any ideas on how to lift it without buying a lift kit??? if i do lift it will it make the front suspension firmer???

 

On my 04.5, I got sp700 springs from my dealer. It doesn't sit too much higher, but it doesn't bottom out in dips anymore (it used to on every one).

Somewhere on here, someone posted a chart displaying the spring rates of all of Polaris's front springs.

There are your stock springs, then HD front springs, then 700 springs, then MV700 springs, then Ranger springs (to the best of my knowledge that goes from weakest to stiffest).

The 05's and up have a much longer front suspension, maybe those springs will fit on the old struts? I'm not sure.

I put in new springs mostly for a stiffer suspension, not so much for the squat. But it did solve both, holds up the plow way better. I think it sits about an inch higher with the 700 springs? I didn't measure, but it rides much much better.


Do a search for that spring rate chart on this site, or ask your dealer, they probably know. Any 04 front springs will fit.

Just got my 700 springs put on handles corners nicer and also bottoms less as tyler mentioned... by the way the you forgot the 700HD springs they come right before the MV7 springs

 

I'm surprised I got what I did, it isn't exactly a comprehensive list [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]. Are there 700 HD springs in addition to the 500 HD springs?

easiest cheapest way in the front is a hockey puck..cut a circle in the middle and then an exit about 3/4" wide then take off the wheel, unbolt the 2 bolts on the strut until the struck slides to the bottom of the shock, then pull the coil down and put the puck ontop of the coil, then have someone put pressuse on the front end while you jack up the strut. then tighten the 2 bolts and put the wheel back on and if you centered the puck right at the top its safe, sturdy and very cheap. a put lifts it about an inch

 

swap a scrambler rider for their fronts they are 75/110

 

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but have you tried messing around with the pre-load to firm them up a bit. That is the first thing that I have to do at 230+ lbs.

 

there is no preload on the front struts of the sportsmans. if you look at some of my pics. in the signture you'll see where and roughly how to add spacers to the front end. they make an adjustable one w/ 3 setting. i my slef just cheaped it out(as always) and used pvc sked 40 pipe fitting w/ pieces of pipe cut off to fill in for added strengh on my 800 and never had an issue. this gave me my front end sag back from all the weight up front and gave me about 1 13" clearance. just a thought.

 

i just helped a friend change the springs and struts on his 04 700 and he put on the epi HD spring. he gained about 2" and it now handles like a dream. the best thing was that the epi springs were way cheaper than stock. i know highlifter also makes a "lift" spring but i've heard they are tough to install
