Trailblazer runs like crap in the cold
#1
I've been riding my stock TB in the snow lately...tons of fun. But it really runs like poo when it's 15-20*F outside. It feels sluggish and runs like it's not quite warmed up. On a 45-50* day it runs great. I know these things are jetted stock for warmer weather and not cold. What jetting should I use in the winter, and at what temp. should I go back to stock? One last question, what are some good tires that will work well in the snow AND in the dirt/mud of summer? These stock Titan 489s suck in the snow, nothing but spinning, even on hard pack trails. TIA guys.

Thanks for the info...what's this Dial-A-Jet thing? Is it something I should consider seeing as though it can be 10* here one day and the next week be 50*. How do they work exactly?

Hello,
I have a 2005 Polaris Trail Boss 330 which did the same thing in cold weather. I called the dealer (thinking I would have to re-jet it) and they suggested a few things that worked.
Being that yours is a 2 stroke (and mine is a 4 stroke) this might not be the problem for you, but I will go ahead and tell you what they suggested. If it doesn't help you, it may help someone else.
First off, try increasing the idle a bit by adjusting the throttle cable (up by the handlebars.) That's what fixed mine. Just be careful not to adjust the idle too high or your gears will grind when you shift.
If that doesn't work, they told me to turn the air screw until it was snug and then loosen it 3 turns.
I hope I was helpful to you or someone else.
