I have a 02 sportsman ,377 miles 144 hrs. my head lights flash when you turn on the switch after a few seconds, why?????? is it an easy fix or a common problem

 

My 02 500 HO has never done it Does it start good with the starter? I just wondering if the battery may be weak. Sounds like its not been rode much. Check all connections be sure they are clean and tight. Should be charging around 13+ volts at the battery. Start with checking the battery termanls. Clean with a wire brush and tighten. Recheck the lights and post back.

 

There is a circuit breaker in a black pouch that protects chassis power. Sounds like your circuit breaker is tripping. Either the circuit breaker is bad, or the connections are dirty. Carefullly cut a slit in the pouch and check the terminals. Clean them if they're dirty. If not, you'll probably have to replace the circuit breaker.

 

thanks for the info. I bought this bike new, never had trouble untill now. It has a 2 in lift, 27 in bi claws and tri claws,full chrome bumpers front and racks, 2500 ramesy, k&n, clutch kit. I was working in the great state of mississippi, near ackerman, if you didnt have a wheeler you wernt normal. great friends i havent seen in a while. some of the best mud i had ever seen. I have a ranch out at bracketville texas and the kids use it more than me. I hope this works. once again thanks for guys like you who help guys like me.

 

Yes. I checked them frist arter i read this. I even called the place where ii purchased the machine. Sounds like the relay. the guy that put my winch on had put the wench silionoid hot wire to the back tail light, it must have put a strain on the system. thankls for the advice
