Default Sputtering - Need help.

Hi - my daughter raced her 1st race of the season. I noticed that in her straight-aways (when she was giving it full throttle) it was sputtering/cutting out a bit off and on. What do I need to adjust to fix that? I am not real familiar with carb adjustments, so I need some opinions. Here is some info that might help:

Polaris Predator 90 w/ 28mm carb kit (140 Main jet, 52 pilot - not sure what the clip is set on) , NEW CDI, Hetrick Pipe(See signature below for more info) (Temperature outside was 40 degrees when she raced.)

Plug looks to be running a bit on the rich side

Any info you can give me would be great!

Take it out, and run it hard(full throttle).....and then immeadiately(spelling?) shut it off(no idle).....check the plug. Tell us then what it reads. If rich still, go down a main jet size.

Should I put a new plug in it first?

You are running fairly rich. Try dropping down to a 135 main jet and see what happens. If that is to much go to up or down as need but only one size at a time.
