Default Big Shoot Out-Atv Mag

Anybody read the purported shootout in this month's issue of ATV Mag between the Brute Force 750, Outlander 800 and the SP 800??? Now I have an SP 800 and, for example, the top measured speed of the one they tested was 51 mph...mine routinely goes in excess of 56 mph at 5000 ft on gps and I am sure they are faster at lower altitude..the SP800 third to these two???Not in my area. The OL is faster but that is it and the BF is only comparable in top speed. Any objective thoughts on this piece of work????

All bikes are different mabe they got a rage POS 800. My SP700 is almost as fast as my brother in Laws Brute. The Brute took me in top end. We ran up to about 50 MPH. I think the outlander won out becasue its improved where as the SP800 has not changed this year. New is better in some folks book. The SP line is to heavy. Polaris should look to loose a few LBS. The Bomb's frame is the weak lint from what I read in another article. Prone to dammage if not protected unlike the polaris. Teh SP is a mudders dream I can't wait to get mine muddy.

I dont know how that can be right. My AC 650V2 tops at about 70mph, and my buddies 650BF is right behind me at 68mph. Its odd how a SP800 would top out around 20mph less!!??

51 is a bunch of crap. My old boss topped out at 52, my rincon tops out at 65 and I know the 800 smokes me. You know the mags dont like Polaris. Pretty much the only thing they say good about the Polaris is the plush ride and decent power.

If you ask me it is all about who is paying the magazine more for advertising, and the same with some of the ATV test shows. You can tell that some publications are very partial to perticular bands, and in this case polaris must not be the editors brand. An the 51 MPH is crap. My 700 has 250 miles on it and I rode 64.7 GPS Sunday. I am sure it will go faster teh more miles I get on it. It improves everytime I ride.

i have read the arcticle and thats not the top speed. those were measure speed for the distance of the race. They only had a 100 yard feild to work with. the polaris reach 51mph at 100 yards the brute force 53 and bomb 57mph

I have 27" ITP Mudlites mounted on C series rims now and have topped out my sporty 800 at 72MPH WOT on GPS. This was on a slight grade downhill on a hardpacked dirt road but the speedo was only pegging 67MPH. The bigger tires actually helped on top end if you can get them rolling and have the momentum. I have read 3 different mags now on the Big Bore Shootouts between these 3 quads and they have named a different winner every time. The Polaris writeups are the most consistent though - Hands down, the best quad for ride quality and plushness and the best "mudder" out of the bunch. Not to mention the best storage and the only one with work lights. You get more bang for your buck with this one and it can be had for under $7200 now. I don't care if the Bomb or Brute is 1-4 MPH faster-I didn't buy mine for top end - I have a Predator to tear it up to do that. The Polaris is built rock solid---more heavy duty all around and comes with more features and IMO is more off road capable than the others. What is so great about Visco Lock? Don't have to be stopped to put it in 4WD? What about the Brute-same thing? I love to be able to be able to select 4X4 at any speed with the flick of the thumb and know I have all 4 wheels spinning when you need it. I had a Rubicon before the sporty and OMG, for an extra $1200, you get twice the quad.
