exhaust spring removal

Default exhaust spring removal

how do u take the springs off of the exhaust on my sportsman??

They have spring tools which are basically just a screwdriver bent 90 degrees with a hook on the end. I just use a pair of vicegrips.

The best tool I have found to use is a rubber bungy cord with the metal hooks on the ends. They dont slip off like other tools tend to sometimes.

get a good pair of vice grips and clamp down as tight as you can on the hook and pull hard......ooooops dont let it slip off ....ouch there goes the skin off some knuckles.....dammm that hurts...

Crash, Take a coat hanger and rap it around the end of the spring. Take the other end of the coat hanger and rap it around a pipe or braker bar. With only a litlle bit of pull they come right off and no busted knuckles. Hope this helps.
