Default 800 EFI Oil

I just got an 2006 800 EFI and I can't seem to find my owners manual. What weight/viscosity is recommended for the 800 EFI? What do you guys use for filters?

It looks like the 2006 800 EFI is a [5] on this page http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.html. Am I going to do damage to it if I use a cheap one (e.g. Wal-Mart SuperTech).

Thanks,

Default 800 EFI Oil

Just changed the oil for the first time on my 2006 800 EFI yesterday. Got 150 miles with 15 hours on it. Polaris machines use 2 quarts of oil which is a full synthetic 0w40. I think mobil 1 makes a 0w40, but I just always use polaris oil. This is my 3rd polaris sportsman with a combines 5000 miles and I have never had an engine problem. I cant give you a filter alternative because I always use a polaris for that to. I know I have read of other alternatives on this site for oil and filter choices for sportsmans. Just search for it in the tool bar.

Dont use a cheap wal-mart oil in it.

Amsoil also makes a 0W40 ATV specific Motor oil now. I've only had an oprtunity to put in my my boy's Honda knockoff and the bike starts better/faster and runs smoother and cooler. I can get you a dicent price on the ATV oil I have a case in stock.

AMSOIL 0W40 full synthetic oil is the way to go in my opinion very good additive package for ATV'S . as for the oil filter you can have your auto parts cross the polaris # to a napa or a wix which is the same as napa.

I use Mobil one synthetic 0W-40 oil and Purolator Pure One oil filter....PL14610 is the # for the filter for my 700......I think it's the same for yours.....Purolators are one of the best filters out there and have an anti drainback valve and uses a synthetic material in the filter......
