Not sure if most of you know but the Polaris primary clutch has a knock to it and alot of people mistake it for a rod knock. It only happens at idle but when you give it some throttle it goes away. This is from the primary clutch button chatter. It is not a big deal and all polaris quads do it or will do it. Only when it gets really bad you will have to replace the buttons but it could be years.

 

i guess mine doesnt do it yet. but ive only got 30 miles in to.

 

I think its better discribed as a rapping noise. Not as heavy as a knock.

 

thanks guy but my 800 knocks loud i think if you stand back like ten feet youcan here it knocking .But it runs great lots of bottom end and good top end.

Mine starts knocking after the oil gets warmed up. 575 miles on it, and has had this noise since day 1. I keep riding it.

Didn't Chevrolet used to call this tapping noise the 'Heartbeat of America'?
