the venom winch is still on ebay. They have the same designs as a Super winch. Never really liked superwinch because of the gearing in them makes them slow.

 

I have a 2005 Sportsman 400. When I purchased it I also purchased the Glacier plow system. At the time I couldn't afford a winch so I went with the "mini" winch that is attached to the plow. The 2500 lb Gorilla winch is well within my budget compared to a Warn. Would the universal mount work with my 400 or since the Gorilla 2500 is the same as the Warn 2.5 should I buy the Warn's mounting plate specific to my atv? Also, if I buy the Gorilla winch I would no longer need to use the "mini" winch attached to the plow. Does anyone know if I could somehow use the wiring/switch for the mini winch or should I remove all of it and use the wiring kit and switch that comes with the Gorilla winch?

Man the cables are about as much as the winches.

 

Just some info for you guys about the synthetic rope.......Rockstomper does have good prices but check out Master Pull synthetic rope also....It actually is stronger than Amsteel....6300 lbs. compared to 5400 lbs....They have some on ebay also and it's cheaper than Amsteel.....I'm not putting down Amsteel, I own some, but had I known about the Master Pull I would have probably gone with that.....

You can take the mini winch off and use the regular winch for the plow. I dont know if the universal winch mount that it comes with will work but I know the warn mount will work. Thats what I have. You can use the switch that you already have but you will need to use the heavy duty contactor that it comes with.

The Gorilla winch and Venom winch are not the same but I have heard good things about the venom. The Venom is way more though. I was playing in the mud today and had to use the winch. It worked great. I dont think you can go wrong with this winch.

 

Has anyone installed one of these gorilla winches on the back of a 2006 800 EFI? I'd like to get some idea how difficult is before I spring for it. Is the controller mechanism chord long enough to reach up the handlebars?

 

It gives plenty of wire for the switch. I had to coil it up and use a wire tie to take up slack.

 

Can't someone copy the mount plate to a electronic drawning as a template? Is the warn mount a just a flat plate or is there more to it?

 

There is more to it. Some mount under the rack plastic and some mount out side of the plastic.

 

Will the gorilla 3000lb work on a 05 sportsman 700 efi? If so, could someone give me the how to do it? Will I need anything else to hook it up? Do I need to cut out the plastic to mount it? Please be very specific on your help as I have never done trhis before. Thanks so much for all the help.
