What is the future for quads??

Do you guys think that the manufacturers are bumping up the size of the engines to quickly?
I remember ten years ago when a 300cc quad was a monster and now we dismiss them as under powered. All this talk about a 950 Sportsman makes me wonder where it will stop. Three years from now will we be riding 2.5 liter four cylinders? Its not that I don’t like the big bores I just wish they would stop at 800 for a while.

I agree. No need to exceed 800.. Heck yamaha has a 500cc twin puttin out over 80hp stock in a sled. why not have that in an ATV.

What looks like is going to happen is a lot of the atvs with carburetors are going to be converted to fuel injection. The onset of the big bore utility quads getting EFI is going to start trickling down to the midsize atvs. I would guess the entry level rigs won't get EFI to keep the cost down. High performance four-wheelers are starting to go that route with Suzuki's new r450, and with rumors of the predator and outlaw getting fuel injection next year. Hopefully the manufacturers will start to refine their products to a greater extent instead of just installing larger engines in them. This applies more to the utility side of the spectrum, as they are having no trouble releasing these high tech 450s that have better handling and more adjustable suspensions than previous quads of the past.
