500 pipe fit on a 400??
#1
I am looking to buy a pro circuit t-4 complete system, wondering if the one for the sportsman 500 will fit on my 400. The pipe for my 400 at procircuit.com is $574, and i found the system at denniskirk.com for $474, but the only applications is for a sportsman 500. i think it should fit, they are basically the same bike, but im not sure.

your not getting much help so i'll throw my 2 cents in.... but i will tell you this is more or less a guess
i would expect that the exhaust will fit... but wont run right... the 500 is a 4-stroke, the 400 is a 2-stroke... the difference in the way then engines run is vast... i'm not positive, but to me that just wouldn't be smart...
if it did work it would be purely out of coincidence, not intent.

cb, sorry, but that's not true your 400 sportsman is actually the 425 motor from the magnums and the xpeditions in the days of old... i know that the cam from a 500 is very similar (i think i remember a guy who swapped them, but i'm not sure) one thing you may do is to goto your local dealer and see if the head-pipe is the same part number for bothe machines. if it is, you're in business. I don't know for sure. But I believe the pipes should be interchangeable. I'm pretty sure the 400 (425cc) and the 500 (499cc) are basically the same engine except for stroke and bore. I think the stock pipe and the entire exhaust on the 400 and 500 are the same. A check with dealer on part #s as mentioned above should confirm.
