Yea you can put motor oil on your chain, but it would be worth it to go get a can of WD-40 or some lubricant spray your chain with (spray vs. rubbing oil on) Gunk Liquid Wrench also makes a brand of chain lube for atv's/motorcycles thats cheaper than most other spray lubes.

Default Chain lube??????

first time he goes thru the wtaer w/ motor oil it'll come right off. he needs a nice foaming oil or i've used the spray oil/wax b4 that works ok while going thru alot of water on the t.b and it last all right.

I always used either the foaming type oil as Stendori mentioned, or when I was in a pinch, 80/90 weight gear oil. It seemed to stay put after applying it with a brush.
