I am selling my 03 Polaris 400 Trailblazer and i am going to buy another quad.My buddy has and 03 predator with weisco piston and nerfs and i think that is it.It is in great condition and was only raced Mx a few times.Or a guy up the road has an 04 raptor 660 with 15 hrs on rebuild,Pipe,Jet kit,Filter and i think that is it.It also is in great condition.My buddy said about $3000 for the predator and the guy up the road said $2500 for the raptor.Which should i get.Ive rode a raptor but havent had a chance to ride a predator.He said to come out and ride the preddy.Also im 5'10, 160 pds and i want it for mostly trails and long steep hills and once in a while to go to some friends MX tracks. To be honest im a little biased on the pred but you would be happy with either or. The Raptor is the better deal. THe predator is better handling the raptor but there both good at trail riding and both will have plenty of power for any hill climb. I would ride them both and get the one you like better.

 

you cant go wrong with either. the Raptor is a tractor you can drop the clutch and lug it anywere. the Predator is a more top end machine if you can put it in its power band and keep it there theres no stopping it - it will rip through anything you throw at it.

people have said that the 660 is a little tippy because its narrow, though the 2003 Predator is a first year run, and has the older frame and longer swingarm. so - if hes raced MX and hasent had his frame Guesseted. look in all the joints for cracks on the Predator if the frame hasent been guesseted.

and yes, the whine on the predators gearbox durring decelleration is normal

 

I owned a raptor, they are a great atv. Power is always there, ride is good(kind tippy) but a all around good quad. Only rode a pred 3 times liked it as well, but if i was picking think the raptor is what i would choose. Sounds like a good deal. Last summer my sister bought a raptor, it is a good bike, I also bought my wife a 03 predator. While both bikes have been trouble free, the raptor is tougher to keep on all 4's because it is narrower and taller. If you can, ride em both even if it is just up and down the street before buying, either one will do ya good.

 

Kind of with everyone else here, don't think you could go wrong either way. I will say, $2500 for an '04 Raptor seems low to me. Might want to check that out. If everything with the bike is good, I'd say that's a tough one to pass up...

 

A Raptor will give you reverse. If it fits you well, I'd go with it. My main question would be, why does an 04 Raptor allready need to be rebuilt? Both good deals though.

 

Well i still havent been succesfull at selling my 400 so i dont have the money to buy me a new quad anyways.I dont know why the raptor has already have to have been rebuilt.I am now needing to get me a truck really soon so i may have to get me a cheap quad or something.
