Default scrambler 400 help

Everytime I get on the gas to go there is a clunking noise coming from somewhere and I cannot find it. Its not the chain, When I let off the gas it stops. I tried hoisting the rearend but it wont clunk it only does it under a load?

Sounds like the chain inside the tranny is bad.

Default scrambler 400 help

I had the same issue with my 400 scrambler about a year ago. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from or what was making the sound. Come to find out, it was my chain making the noise. My swingarm bolt on the right side had backed out, causing the swingarm to push forward on hard acceleration, thus putting slack in the chain and causing the chain to slip. When I would stop and look at the wheeler, the chain slack would be back to normal. I didn't want to screw anything else up on it, so I quit riding it, took it home and looked it over real well and found the problem. I got some Loctite and re-torqued the swingarm bolt back down, haven't had a problem since.

If you are doing the work yourself the tranny chain will be a cheaper fix but will take you about 4hrs the first time you do it.
