800 creeps and inconsistant idle
#1
We just got an 05 800 and it is a beast ( in a good way for the most part ). It has 450 miles on it and it normally idles at 1200, but lately it has idled as high as 1450 and when it does that it will creep forward. Any thoughts. Other then that it runs like great

What should it idle at. When I start it up and let it warm up it stays consistant at 1200. I took it for a ride down the field and back, stoppedat end of driveway idled at 1200, went to park it in the garage idled at 1350 and started creeping.

I have an 06 800 and when i first bought it it would idle at a constant 1150. Now that it has about the same milage as yours, the idle is inconsistant rangeing from 1150 to about 1300. Mine also has the creeps. It will sometimes creep when idleing at only 1150 to1200. I took it back to the dealer and they suposedly adjusted it but i still get an occational creep and extremely hard shifting. When i get a little extra time im going to take the cover off myself and see whats going on.

Seen this before on alot of these guys. First thing to check is the cable make sure there is proper amount of free play then make sure cable isn't binding anywere when turnig right or left. Second Check belt deflection, center to center distance and offset. IF any of these are off it will make you quad creep too. Most likley this is what it is, after 50 miles or so the motor mounts and everything tend to take a set and thign start to move around this causes your belt deflection, center to center, and offset to change. We are working on some new harder motor mounts to help with this but it's going ot be a month or so before we have them but they are coming.

My old 500 ho had the creeps. It was caused by some shims on the clutch being gone. They also said I had burnt the belt in a few places on it doing things I should have been doing with the 500. Like Power braking it off the starting line at a county fair race track. They fixed it under warranty.
