Default Will Polaris answer BRP's new Sport 4x4??

More info.

World’s first extreme terrain vehicle – performance and edge of a sport quad with the capability of a 4x4 quad

Rotax® 800H.O. EFI V-Twin engine – the industry’s most powerful

Visco-Lok‡ 4x4 front differential

Strong, lightweight Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) frame

Long travel RS-Type double A-arm front suspension with dive-control geometry

Long travel RS-Type Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI™) rear suspension

High Pressure Gas (HPG) front and rear shocks

Center-cast aluminum wheels with ITP‡ Holeshot‡ ATR tires

Aggressive minimalist, facetized bodywork styling

Compact, digital multi-function gauge

Quad 60W projector beam headlamps

42 pounds (19 kg) lighter than the Outlander™ 800H.O. EFI model

As more ATV drivers have discovered the recreational possibilities of their quad – trail riding and touring with recreation-utility vehicles; desert and riding courses for sport vehicles – a growing number of drivers have had to make big compromises. The uncompromising adrenaline seeker that likes to get off the beaten path.
A sport bike has the performance and looks he craves, but lacks the capability to get out into the backcountry or nasty conditions. The toughness and four-wheel-drive capability of a 4x4 can get them where they want to go, but not in the high-performance way they want to get there.
BRP has the quad for them – the 2007 Can-Am Renegade. With the best features of the Outlander rec-ute model mated with a host of new performance equipment, the Renegade is the first serious recreation-sport ATV.
On the performance side, there is the Rotax 800H.O. EFI engine, revised front and rear long-travel suspensions with HPG shocks and a cutting-edge wheel and tire combination. For all-terrain capability, the Renegade quad is equipped with the Visco-Lok four-wheel drive system, strong and lightweight Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) frame, and a winch-capable front bumper. In all, the Renegade is 42 pounds lighter (19 kg) than the Outlander 800H.O. EFI model, for great acceleration and light handling.
Many Renegade components have been developed with feedback from Can-Am Factory GNCC champion racers Mike Penland and Scott Kilby. They’ve commented that the Renegade is a no-compromises ATV – they can rail it around corners, take jumps, and then scramble over wicked terrain or mud bog it. It can pretty much do anything, and with style. The minimalist, edgy bodywork is like nothing the industry’s seen.

RS-Type Performance Suspensions
The suspensions are similar to the ones that have received so much praise on the Outlander models – but have been reworked not to isolate drivers from the terrain, but connect them to it. Long travel with high performance HPG shocks make the Renegade ready for dismantling corners like a surgeon and taking on the rough stuff with ease.

We just got a new king of the hill in sport 4x4s. It really is going to be tough to beat this one. Definitely not for me, but it is an impressive quad.

I don't know how, or if Polaris will answer this one?

I read that the Bom's are moving the production line from Canada to Mexico. Their new (I think it's a 400) quad is made in Taiwan. The dealer didn't believe me till I showed him the sticker (lower right on frame). Asked if that was a deal braker I said, "first year and made in Taiwan - yes it would be."

Not to be biased as we've seen this from Polaris too. At least my Boss is mostly made in the US.

Who can say for sure where this thing is assembled, and where it comes from? Sincerely, anyone?

What does that mean???

I think BRP has been doing a great job bringing some excellent products to the market.....the Outlander Series 400/650/800 are all top-notch with excellent features and technology. Now THIS THING is absolutely outragous!!!.....WOW.....All the stuff I love about a Utility quad, IRS, AWD, CVT, ground clearance.....and now all availible in a freakin rocket ship. Put the rack on it and it'll be the best all-around high performance trail machine bar none.

Backinthesaddle, I am just referring to the name change. I wonder if it will be follwed by a change in direction, what (if any) leadership changes may come along with this. I agree the Renegade looks pretty tough and you cannot deny that they are making some great products. I wonder if the design/development teams will be changing and if so, is the Renegade the last hurrah from the same guys that brought the Outlander to the market? They are pushing the envelope and will be forcing everyone else to pick up their game. The competition will make all of the others better. I doubt that it is just the name that has changed. I, of course, don't know but how often have we seen this kind of stuff happen to companies before. Or, the opposite could happen, they may reach an all new Zen level of design and completely leave everyone else behind. Looks like they have taken a substantial step towards that.

I am guessing that BRP will eventually come out with a Renegade 400, 500 & 650 like they did with their outlanders, they would be stupid not to. If the outlaw had 4x4, it could still not touch the new renegade, it is way too powerful. The name change came due to BRP wanting to be the umbrella name with Can-Am, Sea-doo and Ski-doo being the individual market segment names. I have been waiting for a quad like this to come out for a long time. I just hope I can afford one when they come out.

The BRP quad that is made in China is the 2006 DS250, The engine is made to the Rotax specs but is indeed made in China. Not sure if the 2007 DS250 is made in china. The website says that it has a rotax engine. Could have a Rotax and still be built in china I suppose.

newbomber,

Yes thats it, the new 2006 DS250 from China. Been awhile since I saw it (not the 400 but 250, and not Taiwan but China). Thanks for the clarification. Look at the DS250 close and in person and you can see more than some cheap China on it. So not all Bomb's are made in Canada. That's what makes me wonder about this new Can-Am.

Now, how about Bomb's moving production to Mexico? Can you verify that? And where is this new sport 4x4 going to be made?

I have heard that they will be moving production to Mexico for some time now. I do not know where the official can be found. I am sure others know where to find it. The only info I have about the move has come from the bombardier forum. One of the guys on that forum posted how will you like seeing - the new Can-Am Renegade Hecho en Mexico.

LawdogB2,

The BRAND name is changed from Bombardier ATV to Can-Am, not the COMPANY, nor their R&D staff. BRP is the company behind Ski-Doo snowmobiles, Sea-Doo watercraft and Evinrude outboard engines. Now, they decided to call their ATV Can-Am.

If you read their press release, BRP says they feel the Can-Am name is a better fit with their ATV positioning towards enthusiasts looking for more power, better handling, innovation and stunning designs...

I would agree that Can-Am resonates better than Bombardier ATV and to me, it just confirms that BRP will continue developing products in line with the Outlander and Renegade. Maybe a pure Sport 450 quad?
