Default K&N filter and efi

Has anyone ever heard that the k&n filter is bad of efi's. Some people say that it lets micron dirt in and block's the injectors. Any truth to that.

Pure speculation! You will not have any problems if you put a drop-in k&n on your efi polaris quad.

Will you realize any advantages in doing so though?

Wait, does the K&N not allow more air into the system and lean the air/fuel Mix out? Does the MAP Sens. compinsate for this or is it just the fact that it does not let that much more air in? In the Service Manual it states the MAP Sens. takes in to account the amount of air flow and pressure in the maniflod and send the info to the ECM wich dictates the right amount of fuel. I would then think, as this is down stream of the air filter that it should compinstae for it. Is this correct or will it be lean?

Just picked my bike up last week and I've been trying to find this out so I am quite interested in this topic.

On the dyno you will see higher hp #'s. In the feild some people notice it mor ethan others and some don't nitice it at all. Besides the perf. the k&n's are washable and will out last the quad. If you get your stk. on wet it turns into moosh.

It's fine enough to say that the sensors and programming adjust the fuel flow to keep the correct mixture of air/fuel, but is the stock injector / fuel pump capable of delivering the correct amount of fuel for the increased airflow provided by the K & N air filter?

It would be nice if Polaris had that in mind when the designed the fuel system for the 500efi .. but did they?

I have a K&N in my '04 700 EFI. It definitely added hp and the Map sen. adjusts automatically. It is the easiest thing in the world to do if you want to gain a little bit of hp. I absolutely love it in mine. The last time I cleaned it, I put my stock filter back in while the k&N was drying. There was a considerable dif and I could not wait to get the K/n back in.
