Definitely get it checked by the dealer because I put 2300 miles on my 04 400 sportsman and it never did that so I can't imagine it being normal or good for the belt.

you shouldnt have any trouble using the old one its not like a base gasket or anything, just like rubber. just dont ripper it apart. clean it while you have it off as well blow all that belt dust out and check for any broken or worn out parts. make sure the belts in good shape and not missing cogs or burnt.

its my wifes 06 450 w/out ebs. it only wines when you let off the gas as its going down a hill or something. its normal for it to do that. its just the belt free wheeling in the primary clutch when the clutch is disengaged. if you stay on throttle a little bit it keeping the the belt engaged and slow it down a little w/ the engine. if your hearing a flapping sound it could be belt slap. when you have the cover off and the machine in park or neutral slowly rev up and watch the belt engage and rise and drop thru the clutches and then release throttle and watch it disengae and see if is doing this all the way correctly. make sure there isnt too much belt defection ( with the machine off).

is your cover dented in at all. it is made with just enough clearance for the belt. if its not that. then check belt deflection for sure

im not really 100% sure what the proper deflection is, i but i would go w/ around 1 1/4" make sure your belt is setting high in the secondary, around 1/8" above is ok. i beleave you can adjust your engine in the mounts to make sur its line up right. at least this is how i always do my own.
