Polaris Outlaw Problems
#1
I've had my outlaw a few months now. I mostly trail ride with no big jumps, just fast over terrain. Noticed my sway bar links were bent and the rear, inside the rims, has about a 1" wide scrape mark all the way around. It's not deep but it's not supposed to be there. Polaris dealer has it now, the mechanic says it's covered under warranty. Guess I'll see what happens. Anyone else have any problems? Oh! Put Loctite on your sprocket bolts!

the groove inside of the rear wheel is probably from a rock getting inside. That seems to be a common prob now. I have not noticed any bending in my sways yet, but Im only abot 10 hours in. Whats up with the sprockets? I have not noticed any thing loose yet.

I am from South Africa and recently Purchased the Outlaw. Upon completining the 3 tank in the run in process I found that my tires were both flat on the rear. Now being an old predator owner i never got flat tires in six months. SO i pull out a can of tire fix and started it spraying into the wheel only to hear air leaking from the tire.
Upon inspection did i notice not the tyre but the rim making the hissing noise. The same scratch you are talking about was more than a mere scratch. it had penetrated the inside on the rim. The scratch is exactly how you describe it but at 1 point it is deep enough to have made o hole straight through. so we loaded up and took it home only to find the other wheel flat. obviously a much smaller hole but now the bike is buggered with 2 damaged rear rims. I have dropped off the bike at the dealer and now await a responce. Hope this is not going to be a huge problem. looks to me like a design fault they gonna have to come up with a protector plate to stop rocks getting lodged there or there is a huge fault on the a arms... Well lets see what the solution is and i wil keep you up dated...

The sprocket bolts tend to come loose on all chain driven quads unless they are loc-tited in place. That is not a Polaris only issue

So guys we looking to have a huge problem with the rim issue... The Polaris dirstibutor in South Africa has totally blown me off. They are refusing to cover this under warranty. I am beeing told that over 300 unit have been sold and i am the only one complaining. They also told me i shouldn't have ridden the bike with the rock there...if it was really a rock... They basically telling me that i should be stopping every few minutes to make sure there is nothing caught... Wow is that not rediculas, imagine doing that in a race... bye bye first place.hehehe.Imagine the cost of replacing rims every thime this happens. They tell me aswell that the team are racing and winning and they have no problems... Lets se have you see a factory Outlaw with standard rims... I havent. So basically listen to what i have to say. Your safety is not jeprodised by weakend alloy rims, imaging how badly injured you could get if that rim splits at full tilt and throws you off... I see a major problem, and if i were to end up in hospital it better be to my stupidity rather than damaged on a rim. So what do we do poeple. Please report your faults to your local dealer and to polaris direct... If there is a problem lets make them aware and make the fight easyier. I will post photos as soon as i get them from my dealer.

My friend has had his outlaw since march 2006 and i have had my yfz450 since january and he has so many problems with it. In the six months hes had it, its been at the dealership for about 40 days going back and forth to the dealership. The problems he had were bent centerlink , the ignition coil bolt broke off leaving him stranded in the woods ,his pegs bent , steering stops bent so he could turn sharp going to the right and could barley turn going to the left. sproket bolts fell out, starer had to be rebuilt and something like a relay got water in it also causing it not to start. Oh i forgot about the big crack in one of the welds in the steering system. He called polaris wanting them to give him a refund or a new quad and they said "thats what the warenty is for". Curently the outlaw is at the dealership geting the weld fixed and geting a stronger center link. I have not had one problem with my Yfz "knok on wood".
He curently wants a rappy 700 yfz or 450r
Im just reporting what ive seen.

POLARIS .. I just spent the whole afternoon working on the rear suspension of my OUTLAW..Not so good . WHERE ARE THE GREASE ZERKS ??? Are we really supposed to take all the arms apart to grease them ?.. every time we run through water ,wash it,or for the service period? Also .. I could not see any signs of grease in these parts??? What happened?? there are a lot of guys finding this to be the case..we know you read these forums ... There is also a issue with the rear rims.. I just discovered mine to also have these rings around the radius on the inside, some of the dealers are saying it's from rocks,, I'm not so sure? I have two rings and they look to match up with the bearing housing ..It may well be a engineering problem ..could it be from flexing, or moving parts??? I was just getting ready to buy some new tires, but if 10" rims are a possibly fix I'll just wait.. There are other issues as you well know, bent steering parts , swaybars,electrical,etc... POLARIS. We knew these to be a 1st year production model, and it would be having some problems.. I,m just wondering why you hav'nt sent out recalls on the issues, the forums are getting full of the same problems. We paid to much money for these machines to not have these issues resoved...Don't get me wrong, I really like the OUTLAW just want it made right!!!THANKS..
