i have herd of a lot things about polaris belts slipping and other BS well my friends yamaha also has the same problem. Its not just a Polaris thing folks. But anyway all these terible rumers about polaris being very easy to break. What im trying to get to is I have 2 Polaris 425 Xpedtions 2000 model ihave about 2000 miles on it me and my brother both do. And I have not experienced any problems what so ever and i ride in mud over the motor and water up to the racks and also extreme heat and -degree temp. I also pull heavy loads around the farm. So if your scared of the belts sliping and other what not just get the Xpedtion im very happy with mine and i would not have any other atv in the world. Im not putting beltdriven atvs down im just saying if your scared of the blets on polaris or any other atv go with the xpedtion. My friend has a Honda he is always putting Polaris down i just ignore him and say my Polaris beats your Honda in mud, pulling, speed, and everything we have done and your honda has a 450 engine. So folks dont be afraid of the Polaris just take very care of it and change the oil. Im not putting down HONDA or any other atv manufactor just dont be afraid of Polaris

In all respects that you have mentioned, I would not be afraid to buy a Polaris. I've learned to read between the lines with respect to peoples complaints about any quad. I agree that Polaris gets the bad rap in that area more then others. That might explain why Polaris riders seem to be alittle more hostile then some others. The only fear I have of owning a Polaris, for the most part, is the weight of the thing crashing over on top of me when I decide to try something I probably can't make, but am not chicken enough to not try it anyway!

I ran the **** out of my Sportsman,I passed up NO mudholes.I also had alot of problems with it,some my fault, some the dealers.I often wondered how the other 4x4 quads would of held up if they to entered the same mud as myself and as often, instead of sitting back and watching?

you are the majority of Polaris owners , I ride with several of various ages and we never have break downs. I have 1800 miles on mine and have replaced a CV boot, that was totally my fault, the area i was riding in I am surprised i dod not do more damage than that. Polaris makes a very durable machine and to be honest I really beleive that people who own other makes fib a little about how good they run, the reason I say that is i owned Yamaha and Honda before and they spent time in the shop, I always buy brand new machines.
Friends and Family that own other makes also have to put money in there machines from time to time. It goes with it.
So far my Polaris machines have held up better than the others, maybe I am older now and not as rough on them or take better care, but they have held up better. Or else i would buy something else. Polaris right now makes the best machines out there, better ride , better 4x4, better everything.

Polaris earned its reputation years ago by building crap. The first 425 Magnum was a POS along with many of the early Polaris chain driven 4X4s. They have improved their products, but it will take time to improve their reputation. That is the price they have to pay for selling unreliable products in the past.

Very true Greg, they are proving themselves well if you ask me, I rarely if ever come across an unhappy polaris owner. Talk to many people who would never go back to the others, I am one of them big time. I really hate to drive other machines, they just don't compare. But there will always be people who hate Polaris(some people won't let stigmas go like the guys that remember things you did in high school and still think you are the same person 15 years later), just as the friends I have that drive Fords or Chevys, they are die hard loyal to there particular brand and call the others every name in the book. I would reccomend a Polaris to my grandmother.

i agree with u guys. the people that i have meet that have told me that polaris arnt reliable have never ridden one. they tell me that " a buddy had one a while back that had lots of problems". i find out it was in the early 90's, things have changes alot since then, but some people havent figure it out yet.
