Default 400 Scrambler Cooling problem

Do these motors have a thermostat to control water flow? If so where? I add coolant to mine and it pumps it out the overflow bottle. I am thinking thermostat, water pump, or head gasket. Radiator is clean and does not get very hot. Anyone have this happen to them, please help. Thanks....................Brian

Check the headgasket first. Then check the counterbalance for antifreeze, water pump could be bad.

Default 400 Scrambler Cooling problem

No coolent in the counerbalance oil. Over heat light never comes on. Pumped cooling system up to 25 pounds and it held that for over two hours. I have a leak down tester for cyl. pressure. I may have to use that on it to see. I am pulling the motor apart soon as I have a ported cyl to put on it. Does anyone know if these motors have a thermostat?..................Brian

there is a heat sensor on top of the head there is also a screw there to bleed off air in your coolant system...
