I still think it is funny that people complain how slow their sport UTILITYS are. If you want to go fast buy a machine that is made to go fast. If you want a machine to hall, tow, trail ride play in the mud and have fun with then buy a utility. I would also bet you were trying these wide open runs on a new, not brokein, machine. They will get a little faster when they break in. Also you need to be nice to a belt the first few miles to break in the belt. Good luck with your new machine and there are cluch kits out there just for top end. You just have to look.

I have a 06 450 that clips along quite nicely when compared to similar sized machines. The fact that your 01 does 65 is pretty darn amazing. I think my 06 800 does 70-75. Is that 01 stock?

BigDog800EFI if you read the posts I already said its broken in, beltis broken in fine too. I never said I was complaining sodont take it that way. I simply said I was amazed at how much slower the 05 is compared to the 01. Im used to my 01 then we get an 05 and its like wtf happened. I didnt buy a utility 4 wheeler to go fast, I bought it to haul things, tow, play in the mud ect, but when you got other wheelers of the same size weight ect going right on by and you can tow about the same weight and go through mud just like the rest than that would and can amaze. I was trying to find out if I had a turlte or not, Maybe there was something wrong with it, I didnt know. I wanted to see if others had the same wheeler and they noticed the difference in speed. Like I said I could be off on the speed of the 01, thats what the truck said, I dont trust the speedo on the wheelers much on the old ones, for the past 2 years it has been broke anyway. The 01 has a K&N filter, a very good belt, and a rebuilt clutch all when it was tested. Any other opinions please post and please read the other posts beforehand

I heard the 05 is the slowest of the years and i beleieve it. Also heard the 06's are fast(65) can anyone give me insite on this ordeal? Thanks, Brian
the '05 put on 20 pounds since '01. (695lbs VS 715lb)

20 extra pounds will slow you down a little!

if you want speed..........................buy an Outlaw!

My 2005 700EFI tops out around 71mph... Checked with my Garmin Vista GPS. That's with a 205lb. rider, winch, bumpers, etc...

Sorry if it sounded that way. Most guys that complain are switching from a sport machine to a utility. and expect way to much out of a 700 lb utility. The other half bring it home from the dealer and let it rip down the road with .6 miles on it and the complain in a few month on how much oil it uses. Or how they blew up a belt with only 50 miles on it. As to only getting 50MPH out of your. The clutch set ups have not been real good on some machines. Have heard of a few with the clutches being out of alignment. I would check your clutches and maybe see if you have glazed your belt.
