Phoenix....forget it

Thanx eurozx3, Thats nice to know, makes me feel a littl better, I here there not to bad of quad. Our 05 has had some problems to, sticky choke cable, stutters when ya give it full throttle from a stand still, and the kick starter messed up, and the bearing that supports the driven clutch in the case went bad. Some of these are common problems to the first run of the Pheonix, but to call it a peice of crap even with all my problems is a bit extreme. It has enough strong points to almost make it worth the problems. In my opion 2manytoys, I think you may be selling the Pheonix short. It seems a little more capable that you seem to give it credit for. this is just my opion though.
To answer Banai73's question, if you have problems with it, and it is an 05, that is why. Never buy anything the first couple years they come out. Even the Yamaha or Suziki 450{I cant remember which} had frames that would crack the first year they came out.

Dont totally despair scrammy, Polaris did design it, they just outsorced the porduction. I tryed to talk my stepson out of buying the 05, but it was the only one that had no shifing in the price range he wanted.

LMAO !!! Bansaii looks like he needs a Sherman tank. Those mods of his are pretty sweet. I wonder if they helped his plunges into those frozen creeks. My advise, sell the Phoenix to someone who likes those sweet mods and get a Sportsman or Scrammy

Just to be fair, my dealer calls the Trail Boss entry level too (tuff machine). I did buy it before the Phoenix came out so maybe they say that about the Phoenix and not the Boss anymore.
3 weeks is too long to wait on an oil plug. At very close inspection the Phoenix looked cheap to me too.
Bansai73, You seem to know your way around a michine. Surely you could tell that it was a type of knock off? I would not call it crap - but close. The Ozark is a much better machine for the $, but the way you ride, even the Ozark would have given you problems. Polaris should have pulled this model before they let it go - it cheapens their line IMO.

My friend bought a phoenix for his gf last yr. Mostly trail ridin with very little mud the belt just slipped from water. Also there was something wrong with the oil when he changed the oil. Maybe just a lemon?

I agree with Lukester on the fact they never should have produced this model. Seems like they're trying to compete directly with the Chinese manufacturers by using a Chinese manufacturer. The Trail Blazer was the perfect entry level. Even more so by the fact that it was a buildable machine. But since 2 strokes are on the way out, I guess theyfelt they needed a replacement.
They do need a 250 four stroke model, and I did like the front suspension. Just think they were trying to fill a niche they didn't need to. Overall this model has hurt the company more than it has helped.
But as stated by myself and others, this model is not for any type of advanced riding.

I hate to tell you now but you probably should have bought the Trailblazer. American made except for the Robin/Fuji/Subaru engine, which is a reliable and proven engine. I own one and I love it. It is my first machine and I think I will keep it another year or so then upgrade to a Scrabler 500.

The guy I ride with has a TrailBoss, been out with repairs some time now.
I have ZERO regrets on the Ozark, this thing has been even more beaten than the Phoenix and it has had (0) problems. It even took a sail down a fast running brook only to start right up after I winched it out from under a submerged TREE.
